The three ideals I picked that most closely match my current professional life are as follows;

NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct 2005:

Ideals;
1-1.12 To work with families to provide a safe and smooth transition as children and families move from one program to the next.

Principles;
P-1.4 We shall involve all those with relevant knowledge (including families and staff) in decisions concerning a child, as appropriate, ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information.

DEC Code of Ethics:
Enhancement of Children’s and Families’ Quality of Lives;
4. We shall advocate for equal access to high quality services and supports for all children and families to enhance their quality of lives.

I picked these three as the children and families we assist are torn, scared, and do not know what to expect next. Most of the adults have no income or medical coverage to pay for the court ordered services required for the return of their child/children. We search out community resources that may be able to help these families financially, or that can offer services for free. So far we have been lucky enough to direct some of the families to the Head Start Program for free parenting classes, since we lost most of our free and low cost services due to state budget cuts. We also search out family members and reunite them with the children and parents involved.
